Adobe Inc. introduced XD in 2015 as “Project Comet” to provide a specialized editor for UI and UX design and prototyping. The first public beta arrived in March 2016 as “Adobe Experience Design CC” for macOS, with a Windows beta in December. Adobe removed the beta label in 2017 and said in 2023 that XD would receive no further investment and would no longer be sold as a standalone product.
