Agility is a concept aimed at increasing the adaptability and responsiveness of organizations. It promotes collaboration, continuous improvement, and the ability to respond quickly to changes. Agile methods are based on iterative processes where teams work in short cycles to gather feedback and make adjustments.

Agile describes a way of working and developing that moves products and services forward in short cycles with continuous feedback and high adaptability.
In software and product work, agility emerged as a response to heavyweight, plan-driven processes that handle frequent change and uncertain requirements poorly. The 2001 Agile Manifesto distilled that experience into values and principles; Scrum and Kanban turned it into practical ways of working for iterative delivery, collaboration, and learning under real market conditions.
Agile works like a closed control loop: the team delivers small, testable increments, observes the effect, learns from feedback, and adjusts priorities, approach, or scope. Visibility, short coordination loops, and a shared product goal keep the work steerable even though the path to that goal may change.
Work is split into small slices so progress becomes visible and testable early.
Responses from use, review, or operations guide the next adjustment.
Business, development, and delivery make decisions in close alignment rather than in isolation.
Priorities, scope, and approach remain changeable when new information appears.
The team regularly examines what can be simplified or made more effective in the way it works.
Agile is especially useful when requirements are uncertain, change often, or a product must be discovered step by step. It supports cross-functional work and faster learning, but it also requires clear priorities, decision-making authority, and discipline around WIP; otherwise flexibility turns into ambiguity. For heavily regulated or fully pre-defined efforts, hybrid or more prescriptive approaches are often a better fit.
