Anthropic's agentic harness — the gather-context / act / verify loop behind Claude Code, with tools, subagents and MCP. Best suited: Building autonomous coding and computer-use agents on Claude with a production-tested agent loop. Watch out: Anthropic / Claude-centric; tuned for the Claude model family.
Use this profile to understand the building block briefly, place it in the model, and switch to the 360° assessment when needed.

Claude Agent SDK is Anthropic's runtime for Claude-based agents that gather context, call tools, coordinate subagents, and verify their work.
Claude Agent SDK is Anthropic's SDK for the agent loop that also powers Claude Code. Anthropic released it as a programmable surface for production-ready agents in Python and TypeScript, bundling context management, tool calls, subagents, and MCP into a reusable runtime. The official documentation and GitHub repository present it as a Claude-centric SDK.
Think of the SDK as a controlled workbench around a model. First, the agent gathers relevant context from the conversation, files, and available tools. It then plans the next step, executes it through a tool call or subagent, and checks the result before the next cycle begins. MCP extends the tool boundary outward, but the loop remains the core structure.
The runtime repeats perceive-act-check instead of producing only a single output.
Relevant information is gathered and kept in working state so the agent does not restart from scratch at every step.
External functions, files, APIs, and services are connected through tool calls; MCP standardizes much of that integration layer.
Specialized helpers take over parts of the task when one pass would be too broad or too complex.
A central agent dynamically routes work to specialized agents or tools and combines their outputs.
Claude Agent SDK is useful when you want to build autonomous coding or computer-use agents on Claude without designing the loop yourself. It fits production-oriented prototypes, internal assistants, and tool-heavy workflows. It is less suitable if you need a model-agnostic runtime or a system that should not be tied to Anthropic/Claude. More autonomy also increases the need for permissions, observability, and testing.
