PRINCE2 is an adaptable project-management method with clear responsibilities, management stages, a business case, and defined decision boundaries.
PRINCE2 emerged from PRINCE, a British government method for IT projects, in 1996. AXELOS took over the rights and published the 2017 edition; PeopleCert has continued PRINCE2 since 2023.
Anchor the project in a business case that is checked throughout. A project board delegates within tolerances, a project manager controls the stage, and teams deliver products against quality criteria. At each stage boundary, governance decides whether to continue, adapt, or stop.
